Lachezar Tsotsorkov Foundation was established in honor of the inspiring leader and great Bulgarian, who believed that the purpose of human life is to make the world a better place.
Prof. Lachezar Dimitrov Tsotsorkov, PhD (October 16, 1945 – May 16, 2017) was born in Panagyurishte. As a general manager and visionary for modern development of the Bulgarian mineral resources industry, he headed Assarel-Medet for over 30 years and was Chairman of the Bulgarian Chamber of Mining and Geology for over 25 years.He is the winner of the highest state award – “Order of Stara Planina – first degree” and many national and international awards, including “Manager of the Year 2009”. He was declared an honorary citizen of the town of Panagyurishte and the town of Strelcha.
As one of the largest Bulgarian donors and patrons of Bulgarian culture, he has been repeatedly awarded the Golden Age Award by the Ministry of Culture. During his life, he supported many charitable causes and initiatives for the development of culture, education, health, sports, social welfare and youth activities. His vision for the development of his hometown motivated large donations and partnership projects that changed the appearance of the municipality of Panagyurishte and created new prospects for the region.
