Social inequalities and vulnerability experienced during childhood mark children’s lives and may persist through generations. We believe that we, the adults, are primarily responsible for children’s wellbeing, and that together we can make a difference so as to restore children’s trust in us, preserve their dignity and heal their pain.

The Child Protection Department in our Foundation aims at supporting and empowering children in various situations of vulnerability. The Department covers topics such as children deprived of parental care; juvenile justice; quality of services for children; support for professionals working with children; promotion of systemic change rather than implementation of piecemeal activities and improving the sustainability of proven good practices. Support for project activities and initiatives is based on the following basic principles:

  • implementing child-centred approaches;
  • empowering vulnerable groups of children;
  • leading to systemic change as regards socially significant issues;
  • placing responsibility in adults and their professional roles;
  • advocacy, lobbying and building self-sustaining professional networks.
